Tips
Description:
Having a good description is useful with RunSearch because it is shown in the search results. Although the words in the description are not searched, detailed useful descriptions may help people find your board where there are many results.
Keywords
Have good keywords is essential.
Tip 1: Avoid repeating words
Your wasting space as neither search engines or runsearch give you more credit for having the same word multiple times.
RunSearch will only store one copy of the word for searching purposes.
eg
if your keywords were.
writing books, books club, write books, reading books, read
your keywords could be better done as
books , writing , club, write, read, author
this would leave more room for more keywords
Tip 2: Use Thesaurus
Use Thesaurus.com are get some alternative words for books. Eg literature, story, poetry may all be good additional keywords which people may enter.
Tip 3: Specific
Enter keywords just because they may be searched wont automatically get you traffic.
The more specific the keywords, when people do find your board they are likely to have found what they are looking for and stay.
RunSearch Isnt A Miracle Worker
With every ACTIVE Runboard indexed, boards with little or no posts,topics, members will not suddenely get loads of members flooding their way.
Having a successful board is more than about promotion/advertising.
Public vs Private Boards
Public boards benefit from having their stats shown. Since the stats are a determining factor in rankings, private boards will always be bottom of the pile. RunSearch views pages as a guest or search engine spider such as Google would.
New In V3: Stats of boards which switch between public to private and vice versa wont be lost.
