SOME INSPIRED BY A HOME SCHOOL NEWSLETTER
We can often be raring to go the first weeks, then get stopped up when we don't meet our intended plans or burn-out too quickly because we are trying to juggle too much. Here are a couple of tips to keep your new school year sailing smoothly.
1. If you fail to plan, you plan to fail. Have all your supplies and materials ready to go the night before. Lay out uniforms, polish shoes ... no use waiting till sun up to do al this stuff - what if you fancy an extra five minutes duvet time?
2. Make schedules, they don't have to be rigid, but reasonable. When chores are assigned and enforced, they will soon become routine, and this will lessen the stress on the family members who are doing the school runs and preparing dinner etc.
3. Make use of the crock pot for dinners! Keep the meals easy, especially the first month. Try to have a menu plan, even if it's a loose one. You're breaking into a new routine again, and by 5:00 you'll be tired! As the school year progresses it's easier to adjust, but keep whatever else you can easy and basic so you can focus on adjusting to the new schedule.
4. Delegate - do you have a friend or neighbour who can collect your kids from school one day? Or perhaps they can help with baby while you are out watching soccer practice. Call on the doting granny who never gets enough time with Johnny or Sarah to come and help out with homework or music practice.
5. Make time for yourself - juggling school, daycare, and work or housework can be tiring - take time off at the weekend. Take an hour to pamper yourself or go to the mall without the children - they will love you for it as you come back all fresh and cheerful.
6. Get help with the housework - feel like an old bore when the little ones are at school? Having trouble getting motivated to clear up or do laundry - then work with a friend, enjoy a coffee too. One day you do her house, next day hers - before you know it you are on top of the chores.
IN CLOSING THANKS FOR MAKING FREEBIE FRIENDS SUCH A WONDERFUL PLACE TO BE!
