New to board
Hi, I have been suffering from depression & anxiety for about a couple of months - diagnosed officially about a month ago when i was admitted to hospital for a few days (self admission). It appears that a combination of a relationship breakdown, new house and new job have left me reeling. Mornings are the worst - i get anxiety attacks from hell. Any helpful suggestions on how to address would be appreciated.

Re: New to board
Been in exactly the same boat as you, with two children thrown into the equasion.
There isn't an easy answer, sadly - I just had to try and keep going. Work have been less than sympathetic with regards to my circumstances
I just had to keep telling myself that things would get better, even when they got worse.

Re: New to board
Hi and welcome.
I have depression and anxiety too. It does get better - we all have good days and bad days. Places like this are useful for support on bad days and for encouragement when we have good days. See you around.

Re: New to board
Hi doodstone, welcome etc etc
Are you on any antidepressants yet and is your GP any good? That makes the world of difference.
You must have been feeling pretty desperate to admit yourself to a unit. I've always found them so traumatic they make the situation worse. Hope your experience was better. Presumably you're now "in the system" so should be offered a shrink, CPN etc? Have you found out about all that stuff yet? It can be a bit confusing at first. Any chance you could get yourself on the list for CBT? Sorry, questions questions...
I have fairly bad depression and anxiety too, and like so many of us on the board, understand how hard it can be getting through one day after the next. No major quick fixes to recommend I'm afraid. I suppose taking each day as it comes helps, rather than being overwhelmed by the bigger picture (eg the whole week ahead). Easier said than done, I know.
As has been said already, I hope at least we can offer you some support, if not easy answers.
