I found this service FeedFire That gives you the ability to add a RSS feed to your board. The free service doesn't seem to give much in the way of editing ability (creating feed links for every link you have on your board) but at least it creates it and allows you to publish the feed for free.

When you first publish with the free service it will only show 4 links from your board and they may not even be links to any of your forums if you have sidebars or navigation bars on your site but after about a week the feed does become fully populated.

Re: RSS Feed

Hi i tried the feedfire and did not find it very effective.

I wondered if anyone has tried this

http://www.rsspect.com/markup.php ?

I have managed the rss reader to pick up the feed on my board , but cannot make it pick up new posts

Does anyone with better knowledge of the html tags know whether it is worth persevering with ?

Hi Houdini. What was wrong with Feedfire?
Did you try it out for at least a week? Rick did say that it will take about that long before it's fully functional.

I'm hoping you can give us specifics for anyone who may be weighing the pros and cons of each service.

Knowledge with html tags won't determine whether rsspect is any good or not. I can, however, tell you where to insert that span tag they talk about if you want to try it out.

I haven't tried out either of these two services, so I don't know if either will pick up new posts.

Re: RSS Feed

Try putting the <span...> tag at the end of the custom HTML header and the </span> at the beginning of the HTML footer. That's the only way I see that it might be possible to pick up posts, and only if you can specify to rsspect that you want it to check individual forums.

Thanks for that added info about rss reader. emoticon
