Re: What do you use to kill a person close-up
quote: I avoid killing spectators. It's messy, and it requires a clean-up squad. My repertoire contains no weapons...
Hahaha LOL
quote: list of weapons that ALWAYS crack a skull
1) Spoon & fork bending (I agree with DexterHP, this routine really amaze the spectators every single time)
2) Oil & water (My treatment for Ben Harris' signature O&W routine & the finale I use 1 of Henry Evan's routine. They blend in very well.)
3) Cup & dice stacking (It's the final productions that amaze the spectators)
4) ScMonte (my version of Dai Vernon's 3 Card Monte with 2 surprise endings, non-gaffed )
I love these 4 routines because they kept my spectators non-stop discussing about it & most important of all my spectators enjoy watching it.

Re: What do you use to kill a person close-up
The only close-up I get to do is table hopping in restaurants and walk around at parties/hospitality suites. The general rule is that there is no table to use so…
Impromptu “Knife” (pointy thing) through coat (I actually use a sharpened pencil rather than a knife in venues where knives are not allowed). Most often I use the corner hem of the jacket, still on the wearer and a paper napkin.
Signed, borrowed bill to a borrowed unlit cigarette. I love the signed, borrowed bill to impossible location theme. I have it end up in a balloon on the street or for kid’s shows, in a lemon for a formal stage or platform show, and in the cigarette in pubs/bars as an impromptu trick.
Coins across or coins to glass/coffee mug. Borrowed quarters work OK.
Borrowed ring on and off stick to key case (ring flight). While this is a whole sequence I may do just one or the other trick if there are serious time constraints.
Ribbon/string through girl’s wrist and/or borrowed ring in to knotted ribbon.
My absolute favorite close-up trick is one I get to do the least. It is the lit cigarette through the borrowed and signed bill. As smoking becomes more and more passé I am finding fewer and fewer places with a smoker, or where smoking is permitted, to perform this sweet little trick. I don’t smoke so have to borrow the cigarette and the bill. Talk about impromptu looking!

Re: What do you use to kill a person close-up
Can I change mine?
Thanks.
I recently came across (ie. bought) Finn Jon's Esoteric effect at Magic Inc. in Chicago when I was there lecturing. It has replaced Einhorn's Spooked for ease of application and after hundreds of practice sessions and several actual performances the t***** has not b****!
The effect involves three specators selecting cards (rather than one as with Spooked) who are all involved in the revelation of the cards. The control over the deck is also a major plus.
Does anyone have any experience with this effect?
To say it "kills" is the understatement of 2007.
Peace

I use (if impromptu) Thumbs (David Copperfield, Lance Burton) and the Frence Drop. If I have this with me I love the classic Rising Card effect. Also Criss Angel's Card Atching stunt is fun to perform.

Re: What do you use to kill a person close-up
One that has never failed to get the "No @#$%ing Way" is Deep Astonishment by Paul Harris. Deep Astonishment 2 is very good also but along the lines of a fortune telling. The wallet with the first is kind of chinsey but for a few $ you can buy a better one and modify it -- but its not necessary! I am telling you --this one kills!
