When you're writing...
...do you listen to music? I forever have my MP3 player on. I listen to everything from eminem to the song copa cabana. LOL If I'm writing a fight scene, I might listen to hard rock. If I'm writing a sex scene, I'll listen to slow, sexy songs.
Anyone else listen to music while they write?

I guess depends on my mood.
Once in awhie I'll listen, mostly I don't.
Sometimes I feel it pulls me out of my story...I think I have ADHD...like right now I can hear the tv in the back ground, it's pulling me out of typing this...here i go!!

I only use music when I'm truly stuck. I prefer silence, so I can hear my characters talk in my head.

Dawn...ADHD? You are so quiet and collected! The epitome of a southern belle. :o)
FF - Your response made me laugh. There was a time I switched writing ms because one set of characters were talking to me, while the others were silent. I told my husband this and he said I was psycho. lol People who aren't writers just don't understand.

I always listen to music when I'm writing. Each book has a different soundtrack and there's a huge variety of music. I have everything from Chopin to Godsmack and all kinds of stuff in between. We're talking country, ballads, Jinder, Seether, Phantom of the Opera, Moulin Rouge, and more thanI can possibly think to list.
What I listen to depens on the mood of the scene I'm writing. It also helps get me in the mood. And whenI'm driving, it'll keep me in the mood of my characters.

Well, I must be the rejected Southern Belle from the swamps! (haha)
ok, back to music. I love Evenesence (sp???). It did inspire me when I wrote my vampire story....
But, like Nikki, I love such a variety of music.

I guess it depends on what I'm writing. I've created playlists in my iTunes. Some are hard rock, some are slow and sexy. Mostly I try to listen to instrumentals, so I won't get distracted by the lyrics.
However, lately, I've been listening to the music from Moonlight. That keeps my vamp story in perspective.
