Novella's
A started writing a novella last night, and I'm 10,000 words into it, with a clear view of the ending. It surprised me how fast I was able to go from an idea, to 10,000 words, to an ending, all while developing a relationship between the hero and heroine.
Have you written a novella? What are some of the key points I should be aware of? I realize I need all of the aspects of a traditional novel, black moment, yadda yadda. But is there any difference when writing a smaller book? Things I should be aware of?
TIA!

Re: Novella's
Do your best to offer an intriguing plot while involving all the components of the relationship. It's not easy to do both in such a short span of time, but I've seen it done and done well!

Re: Novella's
Novellas are my favorite because I like to keep the focus on the main characters and their relationship.
My best advice would be to keep it to minimal characters for a novella. Good luck and congrats on what you've written so far!!!

Re: Novella's
Thanks, Ann. I sent a partial to an editor, and though the editor I sent it to wasn't taking submissions, she turned it over to another editor that was interested in it. I have 7,500 words to go. I can't believe that I started this on Saturday, and will likely have it finished by Friday. AND it's under consideration at a publishing house already. It feels like a dream.

Re: Novella's
Yeah. The editor offered a revise and re-submit. She liked the novella - she wants it doubled in length. Nikki and I are going to plot it out and see if it's possible. Well, of course it's possible, but it will be difficult. :o)
