Re: When reading a book...
Thank you so much, Dawn.
I tried to get away from the traditional romance, where the heroine can pass for a model, the hero is the guy in the white hat, and everything is so nice, clean cut, and dried. Life is not clean cut and dried. I wanted to write a romance in which the reader asks herself who is the bad guy and who is the good guy in terms of politics.

Re: When reading a book...
I used to read any book all the way through, because I wanted to give it a fighting chance. Besides, I paid good money for something I was going to set down, never to pick up again.
Now, I'm with Nikki, way too many books on my TBR and way too little time. I don't have a running conversation in my head that says 'if it's not good by...' I just decide at some point that if I can't get into it by now, I probably never will, and put it in my recycle bin, or donate it to the library.

Yeah. I think it's way easier to give books a longer chance when you don't have a huge TBR list.
