Blue Generals Recap of Battle of the Bulge

Well first off, the Grim being the ever so humble player that he is (smile) has to admit that Red Team tore Blue Team to pieces today, hands down.

As I sit here thinking about what could of been, I still think we had a good plan but that Red Team executed their plan much, much better and controlled the field all day from one end to the other. Helmets off to Red for a truly outstanding job. In my 3 years of scenario play at OA, todays game was one of the most, if not the most aggressive game I've ever played in.

I also never thought that as Blue General I'd actually be forced to use the 2000 paintballs the General is given for volunteering. But Red brought the battle to my command post so often that I had no choice but to load up and come out to the defense of my own HQ tent several times.

A very big thanks to Frenchie of the 13th Legionnaires as my pick for Blue Teams MVP. All by herself she ran through German lines to the town of Marvie deep in German territory and back again to accomplish a mission by herself! WOW!!! I also saw her advance on the bridge by herself later in the day while I was severely chastising the guys for not running up there with her to back Frenchie up. I need more ladies like Frenchie on my side next time because she is a true paintball warrior!!!

I also want to thank the 13th Legionnaires as my pick for Most Valuable Team. They helped prevent an ugly situation from getting even uglier all day. Great job guys! I really appreciated the 100% effort you guys (and lady) put forth all day!

Thanks to Ronnie of the Soviets for being my XO so I could get time out in the field and for everyone that volunteered to be a commander.

A big thanks to Pine Valley Militia for helping me push our guys to the top of the road in the afternoon. We would have been successful had it not been for us running out of paint and air at the critical moment that we were ready to attempt a crossing.

I promised all our guys that last 30 minutes that we were going to complete that last mission if we had to use every paintball we had left. Even though we knew we had lost the game by that time, it was a matter of pride and honor to hold out no matter what, and we accomplished that. Thanks to everyone on Blue Team for completing that last misssion!

As for the Las Vegas odd's makers picking Blue Team over Red 2 to 1 yesterday all I have to say is 2 things:

1: Odd's makers aren't always right.
2: I secretly put my money on Red Team and won $250,000 and will spend the next 6 months in a GoGo bar in Bangkok, Thailand surrounded by a dozen scantily clad beauties. (Joking).

You may yet see the Grim as General once again in 2008. As the Grim typically sits out the January game (unless the weather is really nice), I'll see you guys the first scenario in the Spring and we'll try again!

Merry Christmas to all and a Happy New Year!

I would have to say congrats to you also. You managed to create some pushes that drove us out of Knightmare Alley, and down by the River. Blue definately did not give up this game.

I agree, it was a great game played by both teams. I'm just glad we had such a great General like Grim to keep us focused and together. I find his leadership far superior to anyone else due to the fact that he is very active in all aspects of the game. Not only in his expert advice, but also in his phenomenal playing abilities. Thanks again Grim. Congrats on the win Red, you deserved it, great job out there.

It was a hard battle in the beginning for blue and the smokes not going off pissed me off especially since we had a guy risk everything to get it in the right spot. But rallying everyone back from the corner in Sedan was our shining moment that I saw and sortof helped lead. We were able to push all the way back in knightmare but then got pushed back again and then pushed back all the way across the road until the final mission. (Btw I was the guy in the leafy ghllie). Great game though lotsa fun.

Edit - the best thing about the pushes is that we started with only 6 guys up front and ended with 50 people backing us.

There was great play by everyone all day, but my heart was filled with sadness by the end of the day. About six other Germans and I sneaked up the western side of the field, and walked straight in to Blue rejuv. during the final battle, when a referee told us to go back. So, we didn't get to sneak up on the command tent. Otherwise, Grim would've gotten seriously embarrassed.

I don't think so boys... but I do give you credit for trying! Like Patton this General was leading from the front lines all day. I was already at the fuel depot by the time you guys sneaked up on our HQ and I was walking the front line back and forth, keeping Blue Teams morale up and preaching no retreat, no surrender for that final battle even though we knew we were a 1000 points behind by that time...

For future reference if you really want to paste the Grim as General look no further than the fiercest battle going on. That's where you'll find me. Up front urging the guys to fight on until their paint runs out! Even then, there were a couple of times I was up front near the ridgeline at the bridge with nothing left but air shooting blanks just to draw the Germans attention to give my Blue guys a chance at getting better bunker positions.

My thanks to all the Allied teams especially Team Ace, Soviets, PsychWard, 13th Legionnaires, Pine Valley Militia, Wolf Pack, Black Watch and others for watching their Generals back and standing shoulder to shoulder while he was on the line of fire out in the field!

Hey Boss,

Its Mike from BoB IV. You working the front lines as much you did certainly inspired me. I really appreciated the cover fire you gave me during the push into nightmare alley.

As for our German friend (the previous poster) I had intel of your attack and established several lines of defence just beyond our CP. You would have outnumbered, outgunned, and eliminated.

You're welcome Raptor 226. That's what a Generals A5 and 450 round hopper is for! Cover fire for the troops and if I recall right I emptied the entire hopper on that push!

Sorry general the 13th couldn't bring
home the victory for the blue team. Red
team played hard all day, this is one of
the most aggressive game this year for the
13th Legionnaires. All we could do was to
give you 100% 13th percent and tried our best
to push blue walk ons up the field.
Overall 13th had blast thank you.

My pleasure to play along side you guys (and lady) if we only had 10 more players as aggressive as Frenchie we would have turned the tide of battle!
