Re: The new "TOWN" will be open for play on June 15
Well the day went REALLY well. We started off with about 5 on 5 and got up to 10 or so on a side. While the numbers didn't fill the field up the players did have a great day of play. Lee gave his modified safety speech including "you all know there's no crying in paintball, you will get shot at close range at times" and "don't shoot each other in close bunker encounters, allow the player to surrender".
This field is a concept field and as far as we know the first of its kind! The new field will accomodate 50 on 50 and obviously the more the better. During the early part of the day players didn't use the inside of containers - there weren''t enough players to get into a head on battle. Once some of the regulars started, players were going inside every game - at the very least to be able to advance under cover and come out the other side. Standing behind one of the steel boxes that are cross ways to the tapes one feels a bit exposed because one player can't cover both sides. You wind up using one side or the other. The lonest game of the day was 13 or so minutes. A four minute game seemed to take forever.
The original plan was to have the partitions tall enough so no one could see over them - a very tall player (there's one in every crowd) showed up and blew that outta the water. He was playing over the top a lot!
Below are the still pics I got. I'll also post some short video clips.
Oh yeah -there were a couple of pumpers and a couple of pistols only players too. The field worked very well for them.
