Question about automatic markers

Hi!

My primary marker is a homemade one. The only problem is that it ONLY fires in fully automatic mode, (I haven't figured out how to give it a switch). I understand why you don't allow fully automatic markers at events, because everyone would be shooting massive ammounts of paint everywhere, however mine only fires about 5-7 rounds a second, and uses clips that only hold around 30-40 rounds. Is there any way I could have the judges look at it? I've taken it to other events and they have let it slide, because it's rate of fire is about the same as someone firing quickly with a semi-automatic, and it uses smaller clips instead of a hopper.

Thanks for any replies!

Although you have good points about capacity and r.o.f. we don't/can't allow anytihng othre than semi-auto and response/retro/reactive trigger as on Tippmann and Mags.

Say for example we allow your seemingly innocent marker and someone else comes up with on that shoots a little faster and holds less paint. Where else could we draw the line!

I AM interested in your home built gat. Tell me more about it.

Thanks for taking the time to ask.

Rob

Homemade marker??? WOW! You got more time on your hands than I do. Me, I'm lazy. Pull out the American Express and give me that fully adjustable marker with the eframe! That way if it blows up in my hands I can take it back to someone else to fix! But camo hats off to you guy.

Thanks for the replies.

Well, what to say... I have been trying to upgrade my marker myself, because I always liked the longbow, however never had the rich parents to dump 1000$ into a hobby I play once every other month. Instead, I decided, "hey I can make something like that!"

Currently I have two designs, the first one, (the one I will bring to the event), is stage 3, while the second is stage 4. Stage 3 uses the stacked tube design, and relies off of purchasing a marker frame to fit inside the gun while stage 4 will be a single tube like the tippmann models. I will probably also make it completely compatible with tippmann parts so all you would need to do is buy a new frame and upgrade.

Anyways, the problem with stage 3 is that it uses an electric gear system to trip the thumb, and to make it semi automatic I would need to completely remake the firing mechanism. Not only that, but I am finishing my vest and helmet for the event so as you can see I don't know if I can finish it in time.

If there is any way I could show it to refs I would greatly appreciate it. I am really only coming to do more stress field testing and not coming to waste a lot of paint. I would love to give a demo to anyone who is interested, because I am thinking about patenting the design in the future!

Thank you

What is the possibility of you getting by the store in Baltimore during the week or Rosedale this Sunday? I work 9-5 at the Baltimore store location and manage the Rosedale field this Sunday. I'd probably be the person to "check out" your creation anyway for safety.

If you'd like to come to the store, let me know i advance so I know to expect you.

Gosh, I REALLY don't mean to be a .....um.... weiner-tease, however I simply can't affoard to play at the event. I've been trying really hard to avoid the fact. I REALLY want to go, however things are incredibly hard here at home right now.

Man, I was really looking forward to going to this event. I really like to show new people my wares. I guess your last 20$, (literally, I am completely broke for the rest of the month), should go towards rent over playing paintball emoticon. I can't even pay for the aluminum to cast my version 4's until next month, and that's only about 5$!

Seriously, I really don't mean to be a tease. I'm sorry guys

Oh, btw I've changed the design to make it easier to manage paint. I've made the clip fixed, and it works similar to a paintball pistol, (use tubes to feed 10 rounds into the clip). However, if you lock the push-ball you can affix a q-loader to the side and have it feed that way.

There is nothing saying you can't come to the event and hang out.

Yes, however it is an hour drive from where I live and to be completely honest I can't afford the gas. Also the idea of baking in the sun while everyone is having a fun time isn't very appealing. Ti's the life of a college student living on his own emoticon.

The good news is I will definitely receive my financial aid before the next event and have plenty of time to make my stage 4's. I will, "hopefully", bring a couple to show off and perhaps sell emoticon.

Seriously though, I really would want to go otherwise.
