How many paintballs are you buying.
I am about to register and buy my paintballs. I was curious to the amount that others are going to be buying. I know since I am a sniper I will use far less. But I was still curious to how many paintballs everyone is getting for the event.
Well lets get this poll rolling

Re: How many paintballs are you buying.
I bought 2 cases to split between 4 people. I might be heinously underbuying, but I've never done a scenario this long and really have no idea. The one time I did play (full day) I used just under 500 paintballs, so I figured 1000 should be enough.
And if it isn't, I can always buy more.

Re: How many paintballs are you buying.
I typically shoot between 1000-1500 for an OA scenario, usually toward the low end of that range, but I am considered a "light" shooter. Cut that in half if I'm playing pump. Most people average around a case of paint.
It's hard to make a blanket statement, but since it sounds like this is your first scenario, it's safe to say you should be prepared to shoot a lot more than you normally do in a day of regular play. A case per person is probably a good starting point, but as Lenny mentioned, you can always get more, and you can always use your leftovers at the next walk-on day.

Re: How many paintballs are you buying.
I would agree with you on shooting more if it weren't for the fact that I will be playing sniper. And I have decided that I might even be hand loading my gun 3 shots at a time (cause thats how many it can hold without a hoper since I want to decrease visiblity with my ghillie suit and gun wrap.

I was thinking less than 500, since I play pump.

I'm sure you've read them, but if you haven't and for anyone else not familiar with the General Scenario Rules of Play, (OA and most scenario fields follow them), here are the rules on ghillie suits.
GHILLIE SUITS:
ALL ghillie suits must be inspected and approved by the game director prior to entering the field of play. If you are wearing a ghillie suit, ALL direct hits/impacts count during day and night play. No paint checks! One direct impact = you're gone.

Yes I know that. And I understand it. I will not cheat. Infact I may not always be wearing my ghillie suit! Because they can get fairly uncomfortable and hot

Re: How many paintballs are you buying.
The inspection is not for your comfort in the heat nor for fairness of play, it is purely for our comfort.
By our comfort I mean none of us want to see a human torch go running through the woods. Setting fire to everything and causing extreme anguish and discomfort to all, not mention how dangerous it would be for everyone else.
The reason for this is due to a few (2 I think at last count) people wearing ghillie suits made with non retardent (that means stuff that dont burn to good) fibres. Which makes them flammable and whilst some players may like the idea of becoming that guy from fantastic four I dont want to smell burnt Marylander in my nostrils for a few hours. Plus the game would probably have to be shut down meaning I couldnt play paintball either, which would be doubly inconsiderate of you.
Dont stand next to smokers when wearing a ghille suit.

Re: How many paintballs are you buying.
4000 balls. Probably wont shoot more than 3500 though. It depends how I play really. When I roll with others I shoot a lot more (coverfire etc).
