The Storyline - Pirates Versus Ninjas
Sitting in his luxurious office, Colonel (ret.) Rock Hungwell of Blackthorne Enterprises pondered the unusual meeting he was about to attend. As the founder and President of the best global security and protection services company in the world, he was unaccustomed to having his clients dictate to him. However, upon receiving a retainer check for one million dollars, he felt he could afford to meet with this new client after hours. The Colonel was used to clandestine meetings, but he had a feeling about this one. And he always trusted his intuition.
The hours passed and just as Colonel Hungwell was beginning to believe the client would not show, the room was rocked by a small explosion. A gray, misty smoke filled the air and as Hungwell jumped from his chair, he felt a hand firmly on his shoulder. “Do not be alarmed Colonel. Please, be seated,” said a figure clad only in a black shinobi shozoko. A Ninja? Here? As Hungwell thought of the Berretta in his desk drawer, the mysterious visitor squeezed his shoulder slightly as if he read the Colonel’s thoughts. Caught by surprise, the security expert realized he was in no position to fight. “Who are you and how can I help you?” said the Colonel. The black clad figure warily circled the room as if searching for a trap. “I need your assistance and I require the utmost secrecy, Colonel. My people are in danger, challenged by a powerful force!”
Warily, the Colonel stood, “Tell me the details.”
“I am Hideo Origami, leader of the Iga ninja clan. I am worried of a recent development with our arch enemies…… The Pirates! We require your assistance. Our spies have informed us that the Pirates have contracted with your nemesis, Global Insecurity Consultants (our motto: if you’re insecure, we’ll sell you guns!). They have spent a small fortune purchasing modern weapons and vehicles. Many of the Pirates are now shooting the new electronic US-5s, taking Kung Fu lessons and there are even reports they have purchased a TANK!”
Taken aback the Colonel replied, “Global Insecurity (our motto: the world is a scary place!)! Those miserable…. They sell weapons to anyone. I understand your concern. The Pirates’ possessing such modern and powerful weapons will definitely upset the balance of power between your factions. We can fix that! How much money do you have?”
“However much money it takes to defeat Red Beard and his merry band of boat pirates! We need weapons, training, and trained soldiers to help! This must end once and for all!”, said Hideo Origami.
Hungwell smiled, “Very well, my friend. Gather your ninja warriors. We begin training at once. We should need a few weeks to get things together. I see no problem with being able to strike out and eliminate the Pirates by March 18th.”
With that, the wheels were in motion. An epic battle is in the works between two warring factions. The Ninjas with their mystical powers & martial arts and the Pirates, a swashbuckling crew of sword wielding fighters. Who will win? Only you can help decide! Join us at Outdoor Adventures on March 18th and settle this argument once and for all!

That's what I've been wondering - are costumes encouraged? I can easily do pirate, and might be able to convince a couple more people to go if most people will be in costume.

Whatever you need to get in the mood - (as far as clothing goes).
Props, weapons, and any other device should be submitted for review.
Specific garb for the game is certainly welcome. Remember it's about fun!

Re: The Storyline - Pirates Versus Ninjas
well i do believe costumes are encouraged i mean it wouldnt be a scenario game without it. i dont think people would expect someone to come up there dressed as though they were going deer hunting if they were suppose to be on a team of pirates shooting ninjas. i just dont think they want people bringing like real swords or anything. i think that as props maybe a cheap plastic 15$ sword from toy-r-us would be fine if thats something else your wondering about.

Re: The Storyline - Pirates Versus Ninjas
I agree that the costume is half the fun, but it is hard to gauge how other people feel. Take the Rennfest - people at the one here are usually dressed, but at the couple I've been to in PA only the performers wore garb. People see you in renn garb and assume you are an employee, when I am really just looking for an excuse to wear medieval clothes.
So I'll definitely be in costume, but I will leave the real swords (and the real leather hat - don't want paint on that) at home.

Re: The Storyline - Pirates Versus Ninjas
what a lot of us did at Stalingrad was wear are expensive wares in the parking lot, then take it off and put on the "paintable garb"
like the Tank Commander hat my teammate let me borrow...I would never get paint on that...
so feel free to wear the leather in the parking lot, but I would deff get a cheapy from the internet for on the field.

Re: The Storyline - Pirates Versus Ninjas
I highly encourage costumes!!! In the beginning very few came in costume, but lately there are dozens at each event. It is fun and that is why I'm here!!!
I'm on-line looking to see which side the ninjas are. One of the RIOT guys is a black belt in tae kwon do (i'm sure i hammered that spelling) so he has requested us to be on the ninjas. I can barely play kick-the-can, but I'll be in full ninja costume...
