I'm just coming into this conversation. You need to place your pictures onto one of the free hosting sites for example Village PHotos Hosting site. download your photos to there and then copy the link for that particular photo and paste in in the URL box Insert image above your new message post.
There are several guys on here that can better guide you than I can. Perhaps one of them will post up and help.

You were close, but you have the formatting of the link a little messed up.
From what I gather you were able to upload your images to Photobucket. After uploading you were able to see that the URL (Universal Resource Locator, also known as the link to the photo) of the photo was:
http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c154/junky259/9.jpg
The only thing you did wrong was that you have to put the proper mark-up text (from here on the boards) around your images URL. You were close but messed something up so the board didn't know you were trying to display an image.
There are two ways to do this:
1. You can hit the 'Insert Image' button when you are creating your post (it is above the text box you type your message in). When you do this you are prompted with a box that allows you to enter the images URL into it and it will put the proper tags in place for you and insert it into the message you are typing.
OR
2. You paste the images URL into the message you are typing and put [ img ] BEFORE it and [ /img ] (minus the spaces between the brackets) after it to tell the board here that you were trying to display an image.
Either way you should see a string in your message like this (again, minus the spaces infront of and behind the 'img' and '/img' tags):
[ img ]http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c154/junky259/9.jpg[ /img ]
