Wild Cards to the Aussie Titles ?
Since when have "Wild Cards" been granted to the Aussies ? What about the longwinded and costly process of entering regionals $ qualifying, then entering State Titles - more $, not to mention lost time from work to compete, cost of travel to contest, costs of accommodation during contest period, then the costs if you qualify to compete for your state ?.
Are "Wild Cards" sanctioned by Surfing Australia ?
Anyone with comments on backdoor qualifications, I'd be interested to hear them.

Re: Wild Cards to the Aussie Titles ?
dont agree at all has this happened and if so how has it happened? what is the point of everyone else going to all the comps to get to the aussies in some surfers dont have ot go thru the same process. No state titles no aussie titles thats the way it is.

Re: Wild Cards to the Aussie Titles ?
Wild Cards into Aussie Titles surely this is not fair to all surfers, especially ones who may have missed certain comps due to a variety of reasons and therefore didnt make the team for a particluar year. And another surfer who didnt go to these comps either gets a wild card into Aussie. It quite clearly says entry into Aussie Titles is VIA state titles.

Re: Wild Cards to the Aussie Titles ?
If anyone doubts the fact a wildcard has been accepted to the titles, just see the front page of surfing Australia site to confirm this. I agree that if a competitor was competing oversees perhaps, a wildcard could be given, but this wasn't the case during both the regionals or state titles. This would seem to open floodgates for any highly ranked surfer to sidestep qualifications to the big one - Not Fair !!
