How many land animals are eaten per year?
Here is what I found out from Vegan Outreach
Calculation:
Approximately 36 -- factory-farmed land animals eaten per person per year in U.S.
So that's over 2,700 -- land animals eaten per person during their lifetime.

Someone on another board I post at made this nifty little program that calculates approximately how many animals you have saved since going vegetarian. It's not completely accurate, obviously, but it's kind of interesting :)

Hallo, new bloke here. I did the test,my wife looking over my shoulder said, ''1822 animals,are you proud of yourself?'' and ;what do you know, I burst into tears. What a wimp.

Hallo, Yes since '86. i saw a programme on German TV of animals being cruelly treated in a slaughter-house and I said,enough. And you ?

I've been vegetarian since about 1995 or so - it was a gradual transition, so I don't have an offical anniversary date :) I've been vegan for about a year and a half (and I wonder what took me so long!  )
This board is pretty slow for the most part. I spend my time over at www.veggieboards.com - it's great! Maybe I'll see you there :) :banana
