Re: SPARTANNNNNN!!!!!!
Finally!
I want King Leonidas to look as bad-ass as possible, berserker, rage you name it.
One head is snarling, the 2nd head is a berserker head that is growling RAWR ape **** mad.
Hope they can include a small bottle of red goo that can be cleaned off and reused, as I'd want to sprinkle and splash it on the figure for that gruesome and intimidating effect, plus do include lots of arrows so I can attach it with a black colored bluetack looking like many arrows puncture the battle damaged shield's surface. Now, that's for a fantastic effect.
It should include real METAL sword, helmet and battle spear.
The cape should have wires. I want it torned and flowing gloriously blood red.
Spartans! ...What is your Profession!?!!
AHOOO!!!!

Re: SPARTANNNNNN!!!!!!
Hmm, it only looks okay, but the legs seem a bit short, at least in this photo. Any chance this pic is a fake? The head also seems a bit off. Also wished it was a shouting maniacal head instead of this quiet look. The accessories look great tho!
Thanks for the scoop, Centrocal!

Re: SPARTANNNNNN!!!!!!
Thanks a lot for the update, Centrocal!
Aside from the legs being too short, like Kaido pointed out, the skin tone definitely needs to be tanner. His upper body muscles ought to be sculpted more three dimensionally so that the ridges between the different muscles are deeper and the muscles themselves more distinct. That said, the shield is awesome - I really dig the arrows lodged in it - and I'm sure they'll add another head sculpt for his angrier expressions.
I can't wait to see what an improved version looks like. I thought the movie was silly (although I think that's what Zack Snyder was going for), but the costumes and props were fantastic. A 14-inch tall Xerxes complete with gold jewels galore would be pretty cool. Add the obligatory Immortal and you have three figures that make a neat color palette when posed with each other. :speederbike

Re: SPARTANNNNNN!!!!!!
300 was quite faithful to the Frank Miller's comic book. Maybe too faithful! The comic was really cheesy too. I found myself a bit bored watching it for most of the time (much like during my viewing of Sin City) in that I knew what was going to happen in nearly every scene. :eatdrink

I've actually never read the 300 graphic novel. Would you recommend it, Kaido? I'm always down for a good comic or graphic novel. :eatdrink
Truth be told, I was kind of bored while watching 300, too, albeit for different reasons. I love Zack Snyder's sense of visual stylization, but I thought a lot of the fighting was in the form of summations - quick notes versions of the skirmishes instead of the battles themselves. That excludes, of course, the fight against the Immortals, which I thought was pretty entertaining. Other than that, however, I think the majority of the film's allure was just in the color and the actors' poses.
Now Synder's Watchmen is another story completely. I thought it was absolutely awesome. Even though it's lengthy, I never get tired of watching it. "Who watches the Watchmen?" Femtech watches the Watchmen!
Anyway, I'm crossing my fingers for HT to pull off Leonidas. :speederbike

Re: SPARTANNNNNN!!!!!!
@ Femtech - Yes, Watchmen is great, one of the better movies this year; I just watched the Dir Cut a couple of weekends ago. As for 300, hard to say. If you thought the movie was boring, I wouldn't bother with the comic b/c it was pretty much the same as the movie except done in Frank Miller's black & white style. Maybe just check it out for fun comparison's sake? Libraries often have Graphic novels available now, so you could always borrow it to check out as well.
300 also has ties with Sin City. In one of the Sin City stories, The Big Fat Kill, the character Dwight and the gun-toting prostitutes of Oldtown choose to face off against the Big Boss in a narrow alley, similar to where the Spartans decided to hold off the Persians.
Btw, people prolly already know this, but Frank Miller was the man responsible for The Spirit which he directed, redesigned, and wrote, hence the similarities between Sin City, 300, and The Spirit.

Re: SPARTANNNNNN!!!!!!
This is a Sissy-Ass Spartan.
...Absolutely, NO.
Hottoys can definitely make a real BadAss Fighting Spartan. One that is intimidating and screaming gruesome violence with just the stare and pose alone.
The proportions of this are really bad. The V shape upper body is not there.
It didn't scare me one bit.
The eyes are too small and expressionless.
The head is too big and the facial expression is too lame, the legs are too short and too narrow when it should be long shapely and muscular, the thigh should be muscular, the feet are too small, the skin tone is just blah pinkish when it should be tanned, the torso is pink not at par with a 1/6 Rambo Hottoys. If you want a Spartan warrior it has to be tall and dark and RIPPED muscular with 6 packs. MGS4 Raiden looks more ripped and muscular than this.
Hottoys people please Look here.
As previously pointed This is a perfect reference picture:
See the expression on those big Defiant Eyes looking up a little bit to a bigger opponent, that expression of defiance is very compelling. Hottoys if you could capture this very picture on a 1/6 figure like no one else can for the sake of art and pride.. my hat is off to you.
Also that is a dirty dark skin-toned, ripped and muscular Spartan.
And this is a perfect pissed off expression, berseker mode as previously pointed.
