Re: Nobody Reading Anything Lately
Never mind, I bought them anyway. I'll drop my 2 cents later on.
I did get The Walking Dead Bk 4... man, the end was a real punch to the guts! Especially since I have kids and a family of my own.

Re: Nobody Reading Anything Lately
The wife bought me a couple of graphic novels for Christmas so I'll be reading those over the coming weeks. She got me Watchmen, which I'm really looking forward to reading at last and Spider-Man One More Day, which I only asked for so I can read it and be appauled at how Marvel are treating my former favourite superhero. Since Batman has been RIP'd and Spider-Man One More Day'd I plan to use the new year to get into some other comic characters. I've heard good things about Green Lantern so I might pick up a GL graphic novel and a Fantastic Four one as well as it's been a while.

Re: Nobody Reading Anything Lately
Buy Invincible too! It's a great book on superheroes. It's a bit bloody at times, not for young kids.

Re: Nobody Reading Anything Lately
I got the Gears of War book "Aspho Fields" for Christmas which I'm about 3 quarters of the way through and it's really good.
Unlike many novels based on games this one does a great job of putting the feel of the games into words and fills in a lot of the backstories for many of the characters.
The only minor niggle is that it jumps from one time period to another a bit too often but it's well worth a read if you like the games.

Re: Nobody Reading Anything Lately
Well One More Day was pretty much as sucky as I'd expected it to be, can't believe just how badly Marvel are ****ing up Spider-Man at the minute. One good thing though, having read it, I can now save myself some cash by not bothering to pick up anything set after Brand New Day.....
I keep hearing great things about Green Lantern and there's a new hardcover just come out called Secret Origin, so I might pick it up. I know very little about the character (other than what I've picked up in Justice League comics and cartoons) so it'll be an experiment to see if I like it.

Re: Nobody Reading Anything Lately
I bought two of Ashley Wood's books, Popbot & WWR.
Popbot is really fractured, not that easy to figure out what the **** is going on. I like the art, but it flips from beautiful paintings to a messy/sketchy type of art throughout. The story is weird, alternate universe, mind **** type writing, with strange characters. Their design is very cool, but the characters and the world they occupy are very weird. It's just not my cup of tea I guess. It's a challenging read no doubt and many on the Ashley Wood forum swear it's a 'great read,' but I beg to differ. I've read it through cover to cover twice already and I'm still going, "wtf?!" The book presentation is beautiful though, a massive hardcover volume with nice thick pages. I absolutely love the toys more than the source material they're based upon.
WWR on the other hand was more accessible and enjoyable for me. It is not a comic, more like an art book with small excerpts that sort of paint a picture of what is going on in this World War Robot world. I just wish there was more!
