Sundown
Like a lover, the sun goes down
Its burning flames spreading all around
Heated touches, fanning desires
Out of the shadows from which it inspires
Dark caresses of reflecting light
Tickling the shores of the sensual night
Golden promises of tomorrow's dreams
Shudders and sighs with nocturnal screams
Of heated passions, the day came and went
Into the night, its energies spent
Re: Sundown hello. i like your poetry. you have deep metaphors and nice word usage but what do you mean by only the second line which goes "Like a lover, the sun goes down"? i like how you write by the way the way you structure your poems is really nice.
… sorry i wasn't asking what does it mean in terms of importance, but i don't understand it. Like a lover, the sun goes down. What are you saying by a lover going down like the sun? I can not quite understand it.
… Oh, ok. I have been told that the statement had a sexual connotation. To me, it meant that a lover would be alit with fire (passion), but eventually would burn out, have to leave our sight temporarily. If you have watched sunsets, as the sun goes down, you can see its heat in colors disperse thru the clouds, as if waving goodbye until tomorrow. I'm not sure if I am making any more sense for you or creating more confusiion.
