@502: after a year or so? when / where did you see them?
@Mookie: Pink Noise is partly Skinny Alley, but with Gyan and Jayashree's son - Jiver on drums. They play originals, and covers by Joni Mitchell, etc.
Landmark store opens 2 days before this gig (26th May) - it's near Infiniti Mall.
Will put up more details - timing, etc. soon..

Beautiful stuff. Can't wait for this one. Will probably go for both the gigs. Incidentally, this is the second time they're performing near Lokhandwala Complex. Anyways, thanks for the heads up, Gupta.

oh yes...even i mistook them for skinny alley.btw is it skinny alley wid a different name and a different drummer? or is pink noise a totally different band?

Hi guys,
This is Jayashree Singh of Skinny Alley/Pink Noise.
I signed up because I saw there was some confusion regarding the bands and thought maybe I should clarify the whole thing. Pink Noise has three Skinny Alley members - Gyan Singh on bass, Amyt Datta on guitars and myself on vocals. We are joined by Gyan's and my son, Jiver, on drums in Pink Noise.
As for the music, I would call it a combination of rock and jazz and blues and funk and even (yes!) metal - a lot of improvisation and a serious attempt to get away from formulae and formatting!
We do a lot of original music. Yes, we do some covers but try to give it the Pink Noise flavour - some Miles Davis, Joni Mitchell, Hendrix, Cassandra Wilson, John Coltrane, Soulive, and even some Sting and Rickie Lee Jones. You get the picture I am sure.
It's a very exciting project for us and we are really looking forward to the Mumbai and Pune gigs.
By the way the new Landmark store is opening on the 26th of this month,not May. As you may know, Landmark is a national chain - basically books and music, with lifestyle and other stuff as well. Hope to see many of you there as well as at Not Just Jazz etc.
