SWAT: Live 'n' Loud!

 emoticon

The third edition of SWAT's annual gig, SWAT: Live 'n' Loud! , is all set for this Friday (i.e. the 30th of March). Bands riffing for a cause this year are (in order of performance):

1) Pipe Dream (mostly alternative)
2) Groovelab (Mind funk)
3) Tripwire (Punk)
4) Medusa (Electronica)
5) Split (Alternative)

The venue is the IES New English School Grounds [Address: Opposite Kherwadi Police Station (!), Govt. Colony, Bandra (East)]. Gates open 5:30 pm; concert starts 6:30 pm.

Entry to the gig is absolutely free; you just need to collect your passes from EMDI (4th floor, IES campus, opp. Lilavati Hospital, Bandra West. Phone: 2655 0808, 2642 7171) from Wednesday onwards.

For any queries about the gig (not directions to the venue or EMDI please; for those, use the landline numbers above), please call Varun on 9867 988 044.

This is a smokefree concert. All wannables who need to smoke up to appreciate good music- this will be a total waste of your time. Cheers to all those who're in it purely for the music!!

Re: SWAT: Live 'n' Loud!

Stange! the show is over, but still no replies. emoticon
Well m from PipeDream n we played last nite for SWAT!

Swat: Live n Loud was well organised, with all the bands getting ample time to soundcheck..though "SOUND" YET AGAIN!! was the major issue.

Apparently the monitors on stage were sounding better than the PA's.. deceving the band to believe that they sounded good on PA's.

@PipeDream : I am from the band so id rather prefer other bands n ppl who came to watch the show to give us a feedback! Although personally i feel the crowd DID Enjoy our setlist. But delivering the 100% we give to our every jam sessions on stage is not happening!
But i did enjoy myself on stage and m sure the others did too.
Expecting a honest feedback from anyone andeverone, cheers!

@Groove Lab : Know the bandmembers n their potential really well. They gave a Good performance..n were unfortunate with the sound. The guitar was low, snare volume was varying songwise,Bass was the loudest, but the engineers should've done a better job with the slap pop tone.
Their Setlist was KILLER! Like What THey call their Genre.. MinD FunK ! emoticon
They covered all the bands that i dig like Incubus,Porcupine Tree,Extreme. And their Funked up OC's like MoneyPal A.k.a Manipal and LOst in Mob !
Waiting for Aeroplane cover guys! emoticon
PS: Basrur u should've wacked up that chuts ass who was passing comments n he would have realized what a passive homosexual goes through emoticon

@ Trip Wire : These guys remimnded me of the good old MoB days emoticon .Gr8 Energy on stage! The punks played an all OC setlist! Jack was flying on the kit asusual emoticon
Condolence to my Paiste 101,which was being belted by Jack emoticon
Again the bass was the loudest instrument on stage.Sound guys shouldve done better.

@SPlit : "Professional" is the word, having missed the sound check intially, they took their time to setup n sound check.Got the perfect tone n sound as they wouldve preferred. "What the Engineer couldve done for the other bands was Pump up the volume like they did for Split!"
Played a tight set, there was this wall of sound n nothing couldve escaped through it!
I Miss the Audioslave n Incubus covers they use to do!
Gr8 performance guys emoticon

@Medusa : Had seen them last almost 3years back at Razz playin Rammstein (spare me for the spelling),manson etc,had a keyboardist then.Dint like them then.
But whoaa!!! They've reinvented themselves n their sound.Just loved their Act..very tight!
Energy was sky high!! Good guitar tone,MC 909 did what it was supposed to do,blow ppl away.Drummer was very tight n had nice sound.Vocals had lot of attitude too.
Played their versions of Seven Nation Army,Breathe n Sweet Dreams and an oc!
Wanted to hear more of them, but the pandus as usual stepped in with their ugly face. emoticon

The Swat guys put up a decent show! Although the crowd turnout was much better last year. Perhaps because the venue was new, unknown and it was a WEEKDAY!!

@ Akky: thanks for bunking ur lectures to watch us n for the DV Cam!

PS: Thanks to Varun,Squid and a girl named Pratiche or Pratiksha (dunn remmember the name emoticon ) for helping us out in every possible way!
Rock on!

Re: SWAT: Live 'n' Loud!

Rahul, thanks a lot for the candid feedback. Really appreciate your going out of your way to perform for a cause.

We know the bands had their fair share of problems with the sound. Well, you get one of the best sound guys for your gig and this still happens... we feel as cheated as the bands did! By the way, Pipe Dream and Split sounded good on the PA as well.

Promise you a much better show next time- in all departments. Thanks and keep the faith!
