Re: Shamal - Dubai
"registration fee AED 300"
AED = United Arab Emirates dirham
1 AED = Rs. 12.30
300 dirhams = Rs. 3,689.38
just pointing this out too for all interested bands.

Re: Shamal - Dubai
^^ gonna use that Credit Card Commercial
Registration fees:Rs 3,690
Flights to DXB:Rs 20,000(not actually figure)
Staying in DXB:Rs 5,000
Opening for you Favourite Band in front of
1,000's of Screaming Fans: Priceless
On a serious note,i'd made a topic abt this on RSJ but that fag DHAWAN screwed it..anyways
i'd love to see an indian band go show those wankers in Dubai what music is..
i had told Sahil last yr abt sending in a Demo, donno if he got down to doing so.
one line struck me
quote: not surprisingly a lot of Indian fans.
anyone who has been to DXB knows that Indians make up 80% of the population there so it pretty obviously there would be indians at a rock show there.....
bet the indian junta there want to see one of their own on stage there

^^ I assumed that flights would be payed for?
And if you're calculating, count for all memebers, right? 20,000 - too less.

Re: Shamal - Dubai
Dubai all of a sudden has become one hotspot for bands & alike... Loads of local bands mushrooming out there. They have the moolah out there & the infrastructure for organising concerts... nd gettin down big names...
Heard they planning to get down "Slipknot" & "Metallica" next year for the "Desert Rock Festival" 07...
Money talks

Re: Shamal - Dubai
^^ Metakix has been invited twice to participate at this event. While it all looks and sounds great, the only hurdle is the money the band is expected to chip-in to get there. BTW, this is the case with most International festivals.
I am in touch with the people who own both Shamal and Desert Rock.
I hope someday it works out for us!
God knows we need the money and the subsequent exposure! :-D
Cheers,
Z O M B

Re: Shamal - Dubai
If I am not mistaken, I remember the organisers telling me that a) the bands have to pay for their own airfare and stay and b) there is no prize money involved..
But the prize for the big winner is opening for some of the gods of metal.. It was Sepultura, Machinehead last year, Testament, Megadeth this time.. Rumours flying around right now variously name Metallica, Iron Maiden, Slayer! Sounds incredible yes, but considering that they HAVE managed to get Sepultura, Megadeth, Testament, Machinehead (besides the other bands like The Darkness, 3 Doors Down, Rasmus etc), it does not seem impossible.
I personally would think that the best bet would be for bands to find sponsors. Yes, I know, easier said than done
But I really really hope some Indian band kicks ass up there on stage next year!!
Shine on,
Bobin
