Re: DY Patil,Nerul

...
Skincold had to back out coz our bassy is in Jeddah and we didnt wanna play another show wid another bassy after our last week's disastrous show in bandra east...

anyways i went to the show..and it was a tp show...

the best band of the day was easily something relevant...i dont beleive they are only fit to plat at njjbtb or other pubs...ya they are much better there...but they played a kickass set here too...its all about being open to all kinds of music genres. Spaz the guy wid the acoustic guitar rocks....especially his vocals...

on to the competition...

Red Cube was good....kickass covers...but they hardly played any originals..if they played any that is...

O.S.D -- were decent...they screwed up a lot of leads ...but i think rearview mirror and rockin in the free world were covered well...the bassy, the singer and the drummer were good...

Silent Lucidity were tight alright but they managed to get the worse sound on the outside...wid speakers jus tearin frm the 1st song itself...good leads on the oc's.

Frozen Abyss -- weird band...nirvana covers were weird....didnt like em much...

Result: Red Cube were easily the tightest band...even though bassy was average...they deserved to win....

it was nice meeting you too chakku! emoticon

sound was nice, wilburne was lazing on a sofa in the blazing sun and laughing at the fact that 5 bands had suddenly pulled out, when he was given a figure of 12 bands playing!!!

SILENT LUCIDITY guyz seemed pretty confident about their set.their confidence cud also be seen on stage, nice work guys.

the organiser nikhil(poor chap)had to face the dillema of having more time in hand.

OSD drummer is my drummers student,so wouldnt say much abt the band....all i can say is they were ok!
 emoticon

that guy was anuj guptas brother.hmmm..those guyz were not bad.vishwanath is a good drummer and the bassy sukkz! man he did not even know the bass lines of smells like and lithium!!!
all he was doing was standing on stage with his bass and shaking his head and smoking in the backstage area.

FROZEN ABYSS metallica key maa behen ek kar dee!
shouts of FROZEN ABBS,FROZEN CRABS,FROZEN ASS CUD BE HEARD FROM THE CROWD!

hey guys, nobody spoke abt my drummers 5 min. solo on stage, poor dude was asked to fill in without him being informed.he had not even touched the drums for a month!
on top of that the cymbals were placed on top of the snare bcuz of which he had some problems!

cheers!

vishwanath is an awesome drummer. no clue how he played at this gig. (the guitarist is my brother, not the bassist).
the bassist was just playing bass cause they don't have a bassist.

late reply,
but i think red cube was good. only thing is the guitarist/vocalist couldnt really concentrate on the vocals completely because of which the vocals were average, inspite of the fact that he had a good voice.
While they were playing, i actually went and asked the guy if they were from bombay coz i liked their setlist. though no originals and looked like their first show.
would like to see them again but with a better bass player and more practice, if the guitarist cant do both guitars and vocals, he should stick to either one coz he's pretty good at both but not at the same time. (i hope you get what i mean)

And Something Relevant was amazing.
I last saw them at CRI last year when they were okay. only the sax player was amazing. this time around though no sax player they sounded much better.
Zephyr's drummer was playing with them n that made a lot of difference in a good way. Also the vocalist was pretty good. The guy on the acoustic guitar forgot the chords of wild horses n was then smiling (i dont know how many ppl noticed this as it was only for a second or so):-) Ironically, He was the only person playing guitar on that song. However the lead guitarist has improved tremendously, he slightly reminded me of warren (no visual resemblane tho) but no fuk ups what so ever n good tone.

All in all was a good free show. All other bands were also decent. Silent Lucidity had a good setlist tho i feel the vocalist went too overboard with the showman ship. Could concentrate more on his singing. The music however was pretty tight n sounded good. Much better than the last time i saw them ( i guess it was s.i.e.s last year). Except for one band( i dont rem which) none of the bands chose to play ulti music., Nice chilled out gig close to home.........
