Marriage

As is the abortion issue of today, the marriage issue is right up there at the top. Same sex marriages are sweeping this country and the world. Where does it stop? Why not be able to marry your cat or dog? How about multiple wives ? What does the Bible say?

in Genesis. "And Adam said, This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh: she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man. Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh" (Genesis 2:23-24).

"For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall be joined unto his wife, and they two shall be one flesh" (Ephesians 5:31).

When God created a partner for Adam He created Eve - not another Adam.

Re: Marriage

I cannot even understand how some churches are ok with gay marriage these days, and some even have openly gay pastors. Do they rip out certain pages of their Bibles?

This just shows me that they are false churches, led by deceivers.

My grandfather was talking about this, I looked it up and understood his concerns. As I understand it these 'thought crimes' that it mentions only in passing near the beginning and again near the end, could extend to what is being preached in the church. Some counter that the bill will not interfear with our freedom of speach, but I have a feeling that it is going to get messy. (the site above is that of the article.)

(I forgot to mention what it was about...)

the bill is about hate crimes, and "thought crimes" against the gay population.

I guess I just really don't understand how, or why people get these things into their minds...

It seems like now days most people just want "feel good" messages. I don't know about you all, but I need my toes stepped on once in awhile.

Re: Marriage

I understand and mostly agree with what you have said.

Now, how does one deal with a member of the family who is a practicing homosexual? I am interested in your responses.

I ask because we have members of our family who are "gay".

They are living in sin.

You shall not lie with a male as with a woman. It is an abomination' (Leviticus 18:22; see also Leviticus 20:13).

'For even their women exchanged the natural use for what is against nature. Likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust for one another...' (Romans 1:26-27).

The Bible not only describes homosexual behavior as detestable, but it also calls for the punishment of those involved (Leviticus 20:13). Their unrepentant attitude caused God to destroy Sodom and Gomorrah (Genesis 19:24-25).

Just as homosexual conduct has been punished in the past, so it will also be punished by God in the future.

"...Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals, nor sodomites, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortion ers will inherit the kingdom of God" (1 Corinthians 6:9-10).

However, there is hope for the homosexual. God forgives and cleanses a person who repents and turns from their sin, including the sin of homosexual behavior (1 Corinthians 6:11). As well as forgiveness, God's grace brings with it the power to live a life that is pleasing to God (Romans 6:6-7). If repentance and reform are genuine, prior homosexual actions should not be a bar to church membership or ministry, as all Christians are reformed sinners.

Re: Marriage

I am familiar with the scriptures, they are living in sin;but, my question was how to deal with a family member?

Sister, Brother, Aunt, Uncle, Mother, Father, daughter, son.

Your aunt, uncle, cousin etc. These people belong to someone's family. What is the response?
