The New NIV
There are some problems with the TNIV, however. In an effort to get rid of words like “man” and “men,” “him” and “he,” the TNIV often changes masculine, third person, singular pronouns into plural, gender-neutral pronouns. For example, whereas in the NIV Jesus says “If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with him, and he with me” (Rev. 3:20b), the TNIV has this: “If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with them, and they with me” (Rev. 3:20b). This distorts the Bible’s emphasis on personal responsibility, or on God’s relationship with the individual Christian (see also John 6:50; Heb. 9:27).

Re: The New NIV
"gender-neutral language"
This is “political correctness-the new religion”, as far as I’m concerned.
This does not surprise me, because the people/Christians, have looked to our politicians to save our nation, improve our nation, be our god. When politics takes the position of being a god, then it’s time to change the bible to be politically correct.
I’m sure in time, everything that has been written-to teach, will be rewritten to be politically correct.
Man is in charge of the earth and everything in it, including woman!
Not only has man allow the political platform to be transformed into a pulpit, he has allowed woman to take his place in authority and society.
If we can’t see the devil doing a magic trick, jerking the table cloth out from under the dishes without disturbing a single one, then we-the church, are in a sad and dangerous state, a state of being politically correct.
God give us discernment and faith to recognize the subtle works of satan, and hold our battle stance with the Sword and not a politically correct language. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
God bless,
-Winkks

Re: The New NIV
I still prefer my old KJV, but I have found a modern translation that is very good. The Southern Baptists decided to endorse it. It's the Holman Christian Standard Bible. I've been impressed with it so far.

Re: The New NIV
Hi oafdog!
I think all translations are good as long as the message of the gospel is in tact. The new "gender-neutral language" is a different message for sure.
This is the perfect example of the scriptures statement below:
Rev 22:19 And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.
((((( High 5 CoLoRi ))))) Amen!!!
God bless,

Re: The New NIV
Thanks for telling us about TNIV bible, Gary. To think, I happen to see one such a bible at my local supermarket...and almost bought it. I'm very glad that the Lord whispered in my ear and told me not to even waste my money on it. Whew!!! Thank you, Jesus.

Re: The New NIV
I would not trust such a Bible. If they look at the text and decided to translate based on gender what else did they decide to "translate" differently just because they didn't like the way God said it?
I am told some translations were made to make it easier to understand but hey!, the apostles were with Jesus and they said it wasn't easy to understand way back then...

Re: The New NIV
For anyone to go through the text of the Bible and decide what God "meant" to say or to try and make it more pleasing by changing what God "did" say makes that Bible a fake and a fraud.
There may be some truth in it but it is no longer the word of God and cannot be trusted.
