Something the Lord has put upon my heart this morning...
Quote:
Mat 16:22
Then Peter took him, and began to rebuke him, saying, Be it far from thee, Lord: this shall not be unto thee.
Mat 16:23
But he turned, and said unto Peter, Get thee behind me, Satan: thou art an offence unto me: for thou savourest not the things that be of God, but those that be of men.
Jesus said this to Peter after the Lord was explaining to them about what he was going to suffer. If our Lord rebukes those who "savours not the things that be of God", then don't we also have the responsibility to do the same to those who offend us with their constant negative attitudes, rebuking the good works of the Holy Spirit?
I think we do! After all, this is satan at work! Just as we see in Mat 16:22.
I'm sure the reader here understands that the Lord isn't rebuking Peter, he's rebuking satan that was in Peter---at that moment.
Peter rebuked the things of God-(what Jesus was explaining)-then Jesus rebuked satan, and that was the end of that!! hehehe...
Praise the Lord!!! What Jesus doesn't tolerate, we shouldn't either. And even though Peter meant well, he was talking against what Jesus was trying to explain to them, something they needed to know.
I pray that we all become more like Peter, that when we are rebuked we learn from it and move on towards the prize.
And that we also become more Christ like and rebuke those/brothers, sisters, who are an offence and contrary to the gospel.

And to remember to not put a stumbling block in the way of other believers. To not return evil for evil. We don't fight against flesh and blood. God gave me back all that Satan tried to steal from me and more. Resist the devil and he will flee! I thank God for this past Sunday! Satan tried to make me want to flee but I'm not going to let the devil steal my testimony!
Revelation 12:11 KJV
(11) And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death.
7 things Satan tries to steal from Christians is good, notes from a Baptist preacher and all Biblically sound, wish you all would read it, or maybe you all did somewhere else.
God bless you all and you all are in my prayers!

Re: Something the Lord has put upon my heart this morning...
Type/text is another factor, assumed tone as opposed to what the author intended. I think errors can be made a lot in this department. Anger can be assumed, negativity can be assumed. I'm reminded of Dr. Weymouth's translation of what love is. One of the hardest parts for me, love always trusts. I think about taking it a step further, that love always trusts in God and trusts that He will work out all things for good for those who love Him and are called according to His purpose. Perhaps in text a failure to use a graphic can help to fuel assumptions on both sides. Maybe a hug icon at the right time or a smile. I guess maybe that's where we look to see if good outweighed bad. Love always hopes.Quote: "Love is patient and kind, knows neither envy nor jealousy; is not forward and self-assertive, nor boastful and conceited. She does not behave unbecomingly, nor seek to aggrandize herself, nor blaze out in passionate anger, nor brood over wrongs. She finds no pleasure in injustice done to others, but joyfully sides with the truth. She knows how to be silent; she is full of trust, full of hope, full of patient endurance."

Peter repented and God used him in a mighty way.
Thank You Lord for everything!
Philippians 3:14 KJV
(14) I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.

Is this some kind of a joke?
Get behind me satan!!
You have manipulated the scripture to edify self! "She"?
Your gospel is an offence to me!
Gary;... I don't know if you intend to delete this thread, but I would not if it were up to me. It is good to see the evidence of my original post in this thread.
What the Lord intended for good, satan will try to destroy! There is only one gospel!!!

KJV
Col 2:8
Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ.
MKJV
Col 2:8
Beware lest anyone rob you through philosophy and vain deceit, according to the tradition of men, according to the elements of the world, and not according to Christ.
God bless,

Re: Something the Lord has put upon my heart this morning...
I apologize ahead of time for responding to this but I need to close the door to this thread. I’m probably showing immatureness in my walk as a Christian by this still bothering me. Either it’s me letting it bother me or my letting the enemy have his way with me. Either way, and this is probably flesh, I’m going to reply to this.
First I do want to publicly apologize to you Winkks for all that I did last year. My own struggles were no excuse for hurting a good friend like I did. I was very much in the wrong. I know there were things God needed to walk me through and is still walking me through. Sometimes I wonder if that’s why last year seems to be repeating itself for me in many ways. A mature Christian would probably shrug off this thread but it seems I’m not there yet.
I just wanted to clarify I had quoted the above from a sermon by F. B. Meyer and I made the mistake of just posting what he quoted. It did give the appearance of my trying to change the gospel and I was wrong in doing so.
If anything I hope this puts closure on this for me, I believe it will. I’ve prayed about this as it’s been gnawing at me and again I’m sure that only shows my own newness on my walk. I also want to apologize to everyone on this board for how I behaved. And to apologize to you as well Gary.
Thank you & God bless you!
