THE RELIABILITY OF THE BIBLE
The Bible is still and will always be the word of God; and it is true:
John 17:17 (King James Version)
17 Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.
And is reliable:
Isaiah 40:3 (King James Version)
3 The voice of him that crieth in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the LORD, make straight in the desert a highway for our God.
The word of God contains wisdom unto salvation:
2 Timothy 3:15-16(King James Version)
15 And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.
16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness
While there are certainly hard passages in the Bible, there are no real contradictions:
2 Peter 3:16-17 (King James Version)
16 As also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things; in which are some things hard to be understood, which they that are unlearned and unstable wrest, as they do also the other scriptures, unto their own destruction.
17 Ye therefore, beloved, seeing ye know these things before, beware lest ye also, being led away with the error of the wicked, fall from your own stedfastness.

If we rely on anything else, any other doctrine, we are walking down the path of deception and the way of salvation is lost.
