Re: I NEED EVERYONES ADVICE AND HELP

You may want to have his testosterone levels tested. My stud doesn't have a problem with interest, but like you were saying when he does mount which is often he never seems able to seal the deal. Does anyone have any advice concerning this type of problem. Sorry Steve wasn't trying to cut in on your topic it just sounds like we may have a similar problem.

Thanks,

Eric

i had the same problem. he just didnt know what to do. i worked with him at least 3 times a day while my female was in heat.someone had to sit on the ground hold the female up and at the rite height while i (for the lack of beter words) guided him in. when he stopped hunching i would place my hand on his hind quarters and do the work for him. once he knotted for the first time nobody had to do anything after that but stand back and let em go. once you get him started just dont let him fall out or give up. he will gert the hang of it.http://www.mybullie.com

Re: I NEED EVERYONES ADVICE AND HELP

I think this is a some what common problem. Some just don't know what to do. Some never will. I have a male that is three, and still has no clue. I've had others that were 8 months, and never had any problems. You can A.I. him and maybe he will learn in time. I wish all of you luck that have this problem. I'm there with you. I have decided to not use the stud that I can't get to breed on his own. I figured he might pass this trait, but I think mine is just so bully that he just can't and gave up years ago. LOL!!! If you want pups I would take them to the Vet or do it yourself, but just get it done, and maybe by the time she's ready again or you want to use him again he will have figured it out. Maybe you need to keep him next to a mature male that is breeding so he can watch. I know you think I'm nuts, but I do think they can learn the behavior. If he and the female are kept together all the time that could be why he won't do it either. He's not dominant enough over her. We all know women run the world (LOL!!) Well in Dogs the females are normally more dominant. When kept together things don't change just because she is in heat. If they are not kept together then you need to put her in his pen, and not the other way around. I hope this helps at least some. I know it's tough some times. They are living creatures, and we can't always predict what they are going to do. Good Luck!!!

Great Topic by the way. I think every breeder has had this problem at some point, if they have been doing this long enough. This is why you need many males. You need a back up plan. Even the most experienced male might not do his job just because we decide that he should.
