What is the best milk replacement for puppies?
I'm new to breeding. I have pups due in June and I want to be prepared.

Re: What is the best milk replacement for puppies?
Hi,,
we keep milk replacer on hand.. i just pick up either a box/tub of it from the vets, or i'll run to Tractor supply in winchester and get it in the bag from there..
but i will mix some in with moms food.. and let her feed the babys..
keep a check on the moms tits too.. make sure they are soft, warm, but not hot , and hard to touch..
you want to let the pups nurse well, so she doesn't get engorged also..

Sharon makes a good point about checking her teats to make sure they are soft and warm. It's not a bad idea to put mom on Amoxocillin when she has the pups for 10 days to keep mastitis from setting in. Congrats on your upcomming litter and good luck to you!
