Private Messages To Email

There is a feature whereby a user can receive private messages to their E-mail address that they signup with.

Activating 'Accept E-mail Private Messages:
Control Panel > Change miscellaneous options > Accept E-mail Private Messages: > Check the box > Save Settings

To deactivate it follow the steps as above and simply uncheck the box.

Sending Private Message By E-Mail:
If a user accepts private messages to E-mail then this will be indicated in the users profile (Click the users name to go to the users profile). It may also be shown in the bottom line of the users posts.

If clicking from the users profile click 'Send Email PM'. If from a users post on a board, click 'Send PM to Username'. Then fill out the subject and message and then press send.

Notes:
Private messages will be sent to the e-mail address to which the user registered. Runboard cannot guarantee that the message will be received due to e-mail hosts measures to block spam and unsolicited mails.
The e-mail may also not be received if the e-mail address is no longer valid or the mailbox is full.

Finding & Joining A Board

Now that you have created an account if you have not already done so you will want to find a board to join and post.

Finding Board
There is currently no search feature to find boards. However you will want to visit The Runboard Directory where there are boards organised by categories ranging from Fishing to Politics to Harry Potter.

Joining A Board
Once you have found a board you want to join you want to start posting as soon as possible. However an individual board may have settings on how you join, some boards specifically require becoming a member before they will even let you view a board.

The Methods To Become A Member

Posting a message ~ Simply posting a message on the board will grant you membership of the board.

Sending a membership Application ~ The board requires that an administrator approves all new members. Click Send Application (Optionally with a message to the admin why you should be accepted for membership. Unfortunately you will not be able to post until an administrator accepts you application.

Invite Only ~ This is a private forum where only people whom the adminstator invites can view the board. You can't usually get access to these forums other than possibly sending a PM or E-mail to the board owner asking for them to invite you.

Password Protected ~ This is a private forum where you need to know and enter a password before you can become a member and be able to view the board. You can't usually get access to these forums other than possibly sending a PM or E-mail to the board owner asking for them to give you the password.

No Membership Can Be Gained ~ The admin has decided to allow anyone to view/post on the board provided that that they have a Runboard user account

Once you have found a board and gained the ability to post. Go ahead. Happy posting!

Premium User Accounts

Users can pay to upgrade their user accounts to premium status.

Premium users have Advertisement-FREE status so they will not get any advertisements on any Runboard message board which they visit.

But if your a board owner, all visitors to your board will still see the ads except for you who are premium.

They also get extra & extended features.
For more details and the current cost of going premium goto the Premium User Page

Frequently Asked Questions

These are frequently asked questions regarding users and their Runboard account.

1. Can I post without having a Runboard account?
You must have a Runboard user account and be logged in, to post. To do that now click here

2. Can I change my username?
You can only change the Usernames appearance with full/partial/random capitalisation. Eg MickeyMouse can be changed to mIckeYmOuSe but not to MickTheMouse.
If you wish to completely change your username you will have to sign up a new user account, but that will mean your post count and karma starting from 0.

3. Is there any way to recover my lost password?
Yes, you can request that you password is sent to the e-mail you signed up to Runboard with. Global users Click Here | Local users need to click the lost password link on the board where they are registered as a user.

4. Is there any way to change a local account to a global account?
Unfortunately, no there is not. If you want to benefit from the features of a global account you will have to sign up a new user account, but that will mean your post count and karma starting from 0. To do that now click here
